The method
Four stages, and the last one never really ends.
Most publishing timelines stop at launch week. Ours is built so that a
title’s second year can out-earn its first — because for a
specialist book, it usually should.
01—
Assess
We read the manuscript and the market in the same fortnight. Who is
the reader, where do they already look, what are they buying instead
right now, and is there a gap wide enough to be worth the work? You
get a straight answer either way, with the reasoning attached.
02—
Publish
Structural edit, line edit and proof. Cover and interior design.
Print, ebook and audio production. Metadata, categories and pricing
treated as a serious discipline rather than a form to fill in at the
end, because for discoverability they very nearly are the product.
03—
Launch
Planned before the manuscript is finished, not after. Search and
category positioning, digital PR, retail and paid advertising, the
author’s own audience, and every review, podcast and extract
placement lined up to land inside the same window.
04—
Compound
The stage almost everyone skips. Rankings maintained, editions kept
current, new formats and territories opened, and the book worked as
the long-term asset it is — for the author’s standing as
much as for the royalty statement.
